Nintendo Wii Error Codes
-1035:
(if ret-1035 read further down) Error when installing IOS36 with trucha bug restorer on sys menu’s 4.1 and below.
-1: SD/USB Loader Error
Hardware not recognized. Most likely have an old cIOS installed, installed incorrectly or missing. Possibly formatted the SD card or USB incorrectly, is unsupported, or not enough space.
-1: Wad Install Error
If a file was needed, then it was not in the correct folder. cIOS installed incorrectly, out of date, or missing. If you are using cios38rev14 installer, put ios38-64-3610.wad file in the root of the SD card. Each program needs its files in specific folders, so pay attention to that. Can also be a bad wad or not enough space on the Wii. Possibly formatted the SD card incorrectly.
DVD Error -2: Backup Launcher
Possibly a newer Wii with D3-2 drive that will not run blank DVDs or an out of date DVDx install. Install latest version of DVDx through the homebrew channel. Ensure application has also been updated to look for the correct version of DVDx (This changed with version 1.0.5)
-6: SD/USB Loader Error
Partition not Found . Most likely have a cIOS installed incorrectly, out of date, or missing. Possibly formatted the device incorrectly or device is not compatible yet.
0: SD/USB Loader Error
Corrupt ISO. Most likely patched incorrectly (you don’t have to patch region when using USB Loader).
001: Unauthorized Device Detected
Most likely outdated firmware for your modchip. Possibly an outdated or missing IOS. Update to latest ios249
002: DVD Read Error / Anti-piracy security
Most likely old or missing IOS. Install a newer IOS 249. There is a 002 fix that will fix most of the older games. uLoader includes this. Also some games require alternate dol loading method to play. see this post.
003: Unauthorized device on 4.2
No workaround on this yet, try unplugging any chips or whatever Nintendo thinks is unauthorized from the wii. Seems like Korean wiis are the most likely to get this error.
3: Wii disk channel
unknown error at this moment.
102: Installing/Uninstalling WAD’s/Downgrading/Region Changing.
If it’s a WAD files ticket just reinstall the WAD and then uninstall using Wad manager. If it’s a missing ticket due to a downgrade or region change then you may have a bricked Wii. Try to reinstall all IOS’s from original sources.
116: Network Connection Error.
Failed to connect to the internet or previous installation failed.
324: DVD Read Error.

349: DVD Read Error
Bad burn/media or most likely incorrect IOS. make sure the type of media you’re using is compatible with the Wii and/or your computer’s DVD Burner. Make sure you are using DVD-R discs, seeing as they are most compatible. Also try setting booktype to DVD-ROM. If using Win Vista/7 make sure burning with admin rights.
384: DVD Read Error.

1017: IOS Installation Error
Most likely using an old or incorrect IOS, missing an IOS, or the IOS you’re trying to install cannot be installed on top of another. Fix it by installing a newer IOS 249 than the one you already have (if you don’t have it, try installing it). If you still get this error, fix it the same way as Error 2011.
1020: Wad Install Error
Most likely missing trucha sign if you downgraded. Other issues are Out of date IOS or bad/incorrect wad. Memory might be full.
1022: Wad Install Error
Most likely incorrect format or corrupt SD card. Memory might be full.
1029: Wad Install Error
Most likely have cIOS 37 (or other outdated/incorrect IOS) still installed. Memory might be full. Wad may be corrupt (patched/injected incorrectly).
1035: Corrupt IOS
Most likely caused by using incorrect or bad IOS/wad installations. Fix it the same way as Error 2011.
1036: Update error in Waninkoko’s 4.1 Updater
do not use as it will download a stubbed IOS60 now which could brick your Wii.
1101: DVD Read Error.
Bad burn/media or incorrect cios. make sure the type of media you’re using is compatible with the Wii and/or your computer’s DVD Burner. Make sure you are using DVD-R discs, seeing as they are most compatible. Also try setting booktype to DVD-ROM. If using Win Vista/7 make sure burning with admin rights. Also this error will persist on newer wiis, meaning that they have the new D2-3 chip which cannot read backups at all. Only option for them is USB loading.
2011: Installation Error
Most likely installed incorrect or out of date IOS. Click getting started and follow the guides to restore trucha bug to your system.
4100: Title Identification Error
When using DVDs, most likely bad burn or media. As for wads, most likely an incorrectly injected wad (.dol and rom injections).
RET - Wii Error Codes List
ret -1: Wad Manager/Backup Launcher
Reformat SD to FAT32. Make sure wad folder on root of card. Install a newer cIOS.
ret -2: Running games
Unknown fix at present.
ret -116: No Wifi
Check wifi setting in Wii system menu settings.
ret -122: USB Backup Launcher
USB Drive is incompatible.
ret -1010: Waninkoko’s 4.2 Updater
Not enough free space on the Wii’s internal memory. Free at least 250 blocks up.
ret -1017: Wad Manager
Corrupt wad. re-download.
ret – 1027: DVD error
Try a newer cIOS, loader or app and latest DVDx.
ret -1029: Downgrade error
Uninstall cIOS37 and replace with latest cIOS38 (249)
ret -1035: Wad Manager/cIOS installer
IOS choose to use does not have trucha bug. Restore it to that IOS or use an IOS that has it./ old version of cIOS already installed. Use any title deleter to remove IOS 249, then use latest cIOS38 installer to install new IOS249.
ret -1039: Waninkoko 4.1 updater.
This is now out of date and will instant brick your Wii. If you have Boot2 as Boot2, restore an old nand, or use firmware downgrader 1.11 MOD or 1.24 to reinstall system menu from Bootmii.
ret -1136: Waninkoko 4.0 updater.
This is now out of date and will instant brick your Wii. If you have Boot2 as Boot2, restore an old nand, or use firmware downgrader 1.11 MOD or 1.24 to reinstall system menu from Bootmii.
ret -2011: No trucha bug
Reinstall the trucha bug. Probably better to follow and installation guide for your system menu version and start from scratch.
ret -4011: Wad Manager/Loader
Bad wad, re-download. Black screen when using a loader. Possibly using cIOS rev 15. Use rev 14 instead
This installer can NOT continue!
There is no known vulnerable IOS installed on this Wii.
Please note that we will not use a fakesighned IOS Due to security reasons.

1) Hackmii installation failure it is a bug installed by the Hackmii team, which prevents Hackmii running under a fakesigned ios36. You will most likely get this when you are trying to install hackmii with a modified ios36, trucha bug or any other way. Install a clean ios36 and retry.
Upside down HBC problem:
This will happen when the ios HBC runs on (press home button on HBC to see it) is trucha signed. Installing latest HBC may fix the problem or reinstall a clean version of that IOS.
