Hard drives can be installed on the different types of Playstation® 2 consoles »

 

 

The 2 main types of PS2® are the larger models as in the main picture here model numbers SCPH-30002, SCPH-35002, SCPH-30002R, SCPH-39002, SCPH-50002, or the Slimline PSTwo® consoles model numbers SCPH 70002, SCPH-75002, SCPH-77002, SCPH-79002 and the latest SCPH-90000 Version.

 

The model number can be found on the console. Large model PS2® can have a Hard drive installed internally as shown to copy & play games off a Hard drive not needing the Game disc to play. All the gamer needs is a Sony® Playstation® 2 Large Console and a SONY® Network adaptor or SONY® Ethernet Adaptor and any IDE Hard drive up to 200GB (Except Western Digital) and an Original Copy of PS2 HD Advance - If your console has a modchip the free version of HD Loader will allow a hard drive up to 2 T/G

The PS2® INF Manager also allows you to run the PS2® Media Player and emulators and many more homebrew applications from the Playstation® 2 memory card.

Games can be copied from The Playstation® 2 straight onto Hard drive and Load times are much better off a larger PS2® Hard drive using HD Loader or HD Advance software. Slim PSTwo® consoles can still use Hard drives using external USB connected Hard drives and USB Extreme Software but load times are slower as it only connects by USB1 and ps2® game compatibility is less. Games must be transferred by PC to the USB external Hard drive. There is a product called PSTwo® Combo which allows an IDE connection to PSTwo® Slimline consoles.
